Title | Letter from Robert Williams Wood, Department of Physics, University of Wisconsin, 237 Langdon Street, Madison, Wisconsin, to Charles Vernon Boys |
Date | 20 May 1901 |
Description | Thanks Boys for his kind note about the manuscript and understands how the committee felt. He had planned for no other publication before presentation to the Society, but Rucker's illness delayed matters., If Boys thinks that his material would meet the high standard of the Royal Society, Wood would like to have it presented. The paper is too long for a meeting, but the slides alone would be of interest. If Boys thinks it best not to present at the Royal Society, then he asks that it be communicated to the Physical Society. He thinks a colour plate is merited and hopes to publish in the Proceedings of the Royal Society and in the Philosophical Magazine. Wood gives the news that he is to be appointed Professor at John Hopkins University. |
