TitleLetter from Agnes Mary Clerke, 68 Redcliffe Square, London, to Charles Vernon Boys
Date11 September 1903
DescriptionNotes a gross mistake in her 'History of Astronomy' which Boys quoted in his Presidential Address. [Heinrich Wilhelm] Olbers computed the time taken for the particles forming the tail of the 1811 comet to be eleven days, not eleven minutes. The mistake was noted in the American Journal of Science for July 1903. She is shocked that her notes were not infallible and is sorry to have misled Boys. Apart from that personal matter she greatly enjoyed his address.

Agnes Mary Clerke (1842-1907) writer on astronomy.
