TitleLetter from Charles Édouard Guillaume, Bureau International des Poids & Mesures, Sevres, to Charles Vernon Boys
Date20 November 1894
DescriptionMendeleev's assistant, Blumbach, is returning to England, providing the opportunity to bring the two thermometers for Boys. These are from the four that Boys still has to receive. One of the last two is under study, and might be added to the shipment. Guillaume did not want to compare it with the hydrogen thermometer for safety reasons. As for the fourth, it is promised by M. Tonelet, but he has not delivered it. The certificates for these two instruments should be sent later in the week, and the other thermometer before the end of the year, via Chaney's assistant. Guillaume reminds Boys that he would like to receive the Proceedings of the Physical Society of London and that he is anxious to read Boys's promised book 'Time'. He will send the 78 pence profit reported on 'Soap Bubbles' for this year, which will give Boys both a poor opinion of their readers and of the commercial acumen of the editors.
