DescriptionWilliams' letter and inclosures of 25 December [1886] have been laid before the Secretaries of the Royal Society, and Rix is directed to reply that the rules of the Society require all communications such as that which Williams proposes, to be endorsed by one of the Fellows as a guarantee of their suitableness for reading at the meetings of the Society. Williams' papers are returned herewith [not attached].
