DescriptionWith reference to Ryder's letter of 26 September concerning the memorial to the late Admiral Sir Charles Shadwell, Rix is instructed to inform Ryder that it was brought to the notice of the President and Council of the Royal Society at their first meeting after summer recess. The appeal will be laid upon the library table and will be seen by many Fellows but it is not the Society's practice to insert applications of this kind into the 'Proceedings [of the Royal Society]' or their other publications.
