Title | Copy letter from Michael Foster, to the Honourable Member for Works, Government of New South Wales, Sydney |
Date | 31 January 1896 |
Description | Foster, on behalf of the Royal Society, conveys thanks for the aid granted to their efforts to settle, by means of deep boring, the problems relating to the structure of coral reefs. The act of the Government of New South Wales in allowing use of their boring machinery has enabled 'an enterprise of great scientific moment' and so science is indebted for the loan.
Foster further notes the special pleasure they take in the 'Mother Country being so warmly supported by one of the most important of the Colonies'. |
