Date25 March 1896
Description'Dear Sir,
In answer to yours of yesterday's date, I think the cause of your perplexity is that two Charters were granted to the Royal Society, the first in 1662, the second in 1663. You will find them both printed at the end of Weld's "History of the Royal Society".
I am, yours truly,
H Rix
Asst. Sec. R.S. [Assistant Secretary, Royal Society]'.
