In the absence of the Assistant Secretary [Robert William Frederick Harrison], I have to acknowledge your receipt for £100 on account of a Scientific Relief case. We duly received your cheque for one guinea for the Society's Dinner. The cheques were, however, only quite [recently?] passed through the Metropole.
