DescriptionHarrison is instructed to inform Hughes that an invitation has been received from the Russian Government to appoint Delegates from the Society to an International Geological Congress to be held at St Petersburg this summer, and the Council have appointed Hughes and Sir Archibald Geikie to represent the Society on that occasion. The Congress will be held at the end of August or the beginning of September and there will also be a series of geological excursions, covering a large part of the Russian Empire, between the end of July and the middle of September.
