| Description | A paper has just been received by Karl Pearson and Miss Lee for the 'Philosophical Transactions [of the Royal Society]' on the distribution of frequency of the barometric height at diverse stations. The authors state in the abstract that the paper is not intended as an illustration of method, hence Rucker thinks it must be regarded as mathematical and he sends it to the Mathematical Committee.
Harrison believes Darwin acted as a referee for one of Pearson' earlier papers. Wonders if Darwin will act as a referee again or recommend someone appropriate. They will then probably be better able to determine whether the second referee should be a meteorologist. Discusses Rucker's actions with regards to Mayer's[?] paper, in relation to Standing Order 23. |
