TitleCopy letter from Arthur William Rucker, to Lord George Hamilton, H.M. Secretary of State for India
Date21 April 1898
DescriptionProfessor Michael Foster, on behalf of the Royal Society, in July 1896 informed Hamilton of the conclusions of the International Conference held at the invitation of the government to consider proposals for carrying out a Catalogue of Scientific Literature.

The Society appointed a Committee and the results of its deliberations have been produced in a report, a copy of which is enclosed [not enclosed]. Hopes the report will be the basis for a practicable scheme for carrying out the proposed Catalogue and that the governments concerned will be prepared to take the necessary steps to putting such a scheme into operation.

Asks that Hamilton will again appoint delegates to another meeting of an International Conference, with powers to authorize the establishment of an organization for the conduct of the Catalogue.

The Secretaries of States for Foreign Affairs and for the Colonies have been informed and invited to appoint delegates to the Conference now proposed. All local arrangements will be prepared by the Society.
