TitleCopy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, to Alfred Bray Kempe, Treasurer, Royal Society
Date21 November 1899
DescriptionEncloses the corrected proof of the account [not attached], which Harrison has been through with the accountant. It seems alright to Harrison except in the principle of charging the whole of the loss of the Lendenfeld and Krakatoa publications on the expenditure of this one year, but as the publications grant enables the Society to show a balance he supposes it does not matter much. Thinks the auditors will require a good deal of explanation of the 'reason of being' of the Cash Account.

Has compared the account with the budget which he dew up early in the year and finds they agree so closely that they may take the budget as a normal estimate of the Society's expenditure.

Thinks they might and ought to slightly increase the balance by drawing something from the National Physical Laboratory, for which the Society has done a great deal of work over the last year and incurred considerable out of pocket expenses.
