|Title||Copy letter from Herbert Rix, to Clements Robert Markham, Fellow of the Royal Society|
|Date||2 June 1888|
|Description||States that Lord Charles Cavendish was awarded the Copley Medal in 1757, and the Honorable Henry Cavendish in 1766, and clarifies that the custom is to give a silver replica of the Royal Medal, but no replica of the Copley medal. The originals are always in gold. |
It is likely that Charles Cavendish had copies struck at his own expense, as he could not have been presented the medal five times.
