TitleCopy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, to Professor Robert Bellamy Clifton, Fellow of the Royal Society
Date24 January 1901
DescriptionSends a card containing particulars of a new paper received from George W Walker of Trinity College, Cambridge, communicated by Professor [Arthur William] Rucker [not enclosed]. Rucker accepts the papers for consideration and reading so the next step is the nomination of referees under Standing Order 41. Rucker thinks that with Clifton's approval the paper might go to Professor [George Hartley] Bryan or Dr Stoney and Dr [Joseph] Larmor.

In reply to Clifton's letter Harrison is putting the papers by Professor Turner and Mr Dyson in to type. Turner's request for early proofs may be regarded as an application under note six, page 59 of the 'Year-book'.

Harrison will submit Lord Rayleigh's paper to the two referees Clifton names.

Details what the various parts of the postcard are used for noting it is usual in order to save time, for the Chairman to nominate, in concurrence with a Secretary, provisional referees.

Professor Rucker has been ordered away for three months due to illness. Sir M Foster has asked Harrison to tell Clifton that he looks to him as the main authority regarding the physical papers.
