Title | Copy letter from Sir Michael Foster, to The Under Secretary of State for India, India Office, S.W. |
Date | 2 July 1903 |
Description | [John] Stanley Gardiner wishes to carry out an investigation, largely biological, of the region lying between South India and Madagascar, and would like some assistance for doing so. The Royal Society hopes the Government, which has done admirable work in surveying and exploration in the past, will look favorably upon his proposal, as his services might be utilized for the purposes of an oceanographic study of the region, which was left out by the Challenger expedition some thirty years ago. |
