| Description | 1. Without further evidence it is not possible for the Committee to discuss fully the exact nature of the illness in St Lucia, although it appears that the cases are Yellow Fever.
2. This shows the necessity of establishing a laboratory in the West Indies [Caribbean] with a well trained Medical Officer.
3. Regarding Dr Low's proposed sanity measures, without more information it is not possible to say whether these measures are practicable.
4. The mosquito is the main agent in propagating malaria and Yellow Fever. The destruction or reduction of mosquitos is placed in the first rank of preventative measures. Past experience in Cuba, the West Coast of Africa and elsewhere, hows how much can be done by simple means by the employment of properly directed and controlled gangs of men. |
