Title | Copy letter from Michael Foster, to the Under Secretary of State for India, India Office |
Date | 19 December 1902 |
Description | In July 1902 the Government of India agreed to associate Captain S P James with the Royal Society's observers, in investigations and experiments at Mian Mir Cantonment. The observers under the immediate direction of the Society were unfortunately compelled to return to England before the Mian Mir experiments could be completed. These experiments promised to afford valuable information as to the practicability of preventive measures, particularly in the direction of the destruction of the Malaria-bearing mosquito, and Captain James has been continuing them up to the present. If these experiments are to furnish trust worthy data they should be continued for some time longer, especially through the winter and Foster therefore asks that every encouragement and facility may be given to James to continue his investigations |
