TitleCopy letter from Archibald Geikie, to the Honorable Secretaries, Royal Geographical Society
DateJanuary 1904
DescriptionGeikie reports that the joint letter to Captain Robert Falcon Scott from the Presidents of the Royal Society and the Royal Geographical Society has been signed by William Huggins and despatched. He highlights the matter of the £500 credit placed at Scott's disposal, noting that though it has not been reported by the Antarctic Finance Committee to be necessary, Huggins has, due to the urgency of the situation, acted on the assurance of the Royal Geographical Society that the credit should be given.

He clarifies that the letter does not commit the Royal Society in regard to questions raised in the Royal Geographical Society's letter of 26 January, which will separately be submitted to the Council of the Royal Society.
