TitleCopy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, to Francis Darwin, Fellow of the Royal Society
Date11 May 1904
DescriptionHarrison seeks Darwin's opinion on whether he should accept the proposed withdrawal from the Soirée of a microscopial exhibit illustrative of cancer nuclear phenomenon by Professor Farmer, Mr Moore and Mr Walker, for which four microscopes 'of a special kind' were given as a requirement. Farmer has written to state that contrary to the Royal Society's hopes he cannot supply them. Professor Joseph Larmor had already challenged the hiring of, at the Society's expense, four microscopes and lamps for the reading of Farmer's reading. He believes there is no reason why exhibitors should not supply microscopes themselves, citing the example of the Marine Biological Laboratory who are supply their own microscopes from Plymouth.
