|21 October 1904
|Regarding the nomination of Mr Messman[?] to represent the Scottish Antarctic Expedition on the Committee in charge of the reduction of the Meteorological and Magnetic results of the National Antarctic Expedition, these reductions are now being put in train, so that it will be necessary to make immediate arrangements as to co-operation, as it will be impossible to resume the matter on Messman's return. Further correspondence on Magnetism should be sent to Dr Charles Chree, and Meteorology should be sent to Dr William Napier Shaw.
