Title | Copy letter from Herbert Rix, to Professor Michael Foster, [Royal Society] |
Date | 11 March 1889 |
Description | Replies to Foster's letter that the letter about the Emperor of Brazil came from the Foreign Office, and Foster has signed the answer drafted by Rix on 31 January, explaining the reasons why the volumes had not been sent and offering to send them annually. Following that however, a letter has been received from the Foreign Office asking that back issues and future annual parcels be sent via the Brazilian legation, and Rix is today sending the parcels with a covering letter.
Rix has sent the Pearl paper to Professor Edwin Ray Lankester, and notes that he will do his best about Mr Dyer's application, but that it will delay the book slightly.
He also sends the Treasury letter which has just arrived, and asks that it be passed or or mentioned to, the Royal Society President.
Finally, the bill for printing in relation to the Government Grant reforms is over 50 pounds, a large portion of the 100 pounds allowed for administrative expenses. |
