TitleCopy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, to the Controller of Accounts
Date20 February 1905
DescriptionIs obliged for the Controller's letter of 18 February but fears his own letter of 2 February did not convey a clear idea of the situation. Prior to 1884 the fire appliances were the property of the Royal Society and kept in order by them. In that year His Majesty's Office of Works decided to provide their own appliances which he understood they would keep under inspection and repair. This year for the first time a charge has been made on the Society for this service. It was this charge and not the performance of the service which Harrison questioned and he trusts the Controller will find on examination that it was intended to be included amongst the services which the Office performs without charge.
