TitleCopy letter from Archibald Geikie, to Edwin Ray Lankester, [Fellow of the Royal Society]
Date24 March 1905
DescriptionHas been reflecting much on the kind of letter or memorandum they ought to send to the Colonial Office. Discusses two points that he thinks they would be made to clearly recognize in relation to the Uganda [Sleeping Sickness] work: the scientific work to be undertaken or supervised by the Society, and the work in which the services of the local medical and other authorities could be enlisted.

Harrison has suggested that in view of the obvious influence of Manson in priming the Colonial Secretary's mind with the idea that Trypanosoma has not been proved to be the cause of the disease, it would be polite to get a certificate so worded as to secure the assent of all the members of the Committee qualified to express an opinion.

Asks for Lankester to provide details under the two points and he will try to write the letter.
