Title | Copy letter from Archibald Geikie, to [W S] Bruce |
Date | 14 December 1906 |
Description | At a meeting of the Magnetic Committee of the Antarctic Expedition held yesterday, the manuscript of the 'Scotia' magnetic work was handed over to Geikie for publication. Before it goes to the printers, asks Bruce if he has any requests. He is no doubt aware that the decision has been made to publish the Antarctic Reports in quarto form, uniform with the 'Philosophical Transactions [of the Royal Society]'. The 'Scotia' and Dr Charles Chree's 'Discussion' material shall be sent to the printers. Pagination can be amended if necessary. Asks how many copies will have to be struck off for his volume.
Asks if he has any better map than the one found in the 'Scotia' manuscript, which is shaky, and should be re-drawn. Not happy with the other illustrations, which are three photographs of the Magnetic Observatory. Geikie is anxious to push the work forward. |
