Description'Dear Sir,
I have to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of March 28th and to say that no lecture of nitrifying bacteria is to be delivered before the Royal Society by Prof[essor] Bottomley. Your letter is therefore being sent on to the Royal Institution, as it is possible that the secretary of that institution may have some knowledge of the lecture you refer to.'
