Title | Copy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, to Professor Joseph Larmor, Secretary of the Royal Society |
Date | 20 October 1908 |
Description | Professor William Mitchison Hicks' report on a paper by [James] de Graaf Hunter on 'Apparatus for Measurement of the Defining Powers of Objectives' has been received. He doubts whether the publications of the Royal Society should be used 'fur instrumenten kunde'. The paper would have been more suitable if the author had applied it to measure the intensity distribution in some diffraction pattern, and compared with theory, or if he had actually carried out the work he suggests on the measurement of visibility fringes. |
