I am desired to express the general regret of the Officers of the Society for the illness which necessitates your absence from the Anniversary Dinner, and to tell you that Mr Jameson has been assigned a place where it is hoped he will be in congenial company. It will be my duty in due course to return you the amount paid for your own ticket.'
