TitleCopy letter from Archibald Geikie to W D Barber, Secretary to the Board of Visitors, Admiralty
Date1 December 1908
Description'Dear Sir,
Your letter of 26th ult[imo] to Lord Rayleigh on the subject of the vacancy in the Board of Visitors of Greenwich Observatory was not in time to reach him before he left for South Africa and it has accordingly passed into my hands to deal with as his successor in the Presidency of the Royal Society. I wish to appoint Prof[essor] Schauster, FRS [Fellow of the Royal Society] of Hart House, Victoria Park, Manchester. He is at present abroad but I believe he will have returned to the country long before the Council meeting of the Board of Visitors.'
