Description'Dear Professor Schafer,
The President and Council at their meeting yesterday resolved to invite you to deliver the Croonian Lecture this year, and I am directed to ask you, if you accept the invitation, to be good enough to let me know as soon as possible the title of your lecture, and to suggest a date that will be convenient to you towards the end of this session. The lecture will be delivered on one of the days appointed for the meetings of the Society.'
