In reply to your letter of November 14, I find that the Rev. John Peter Bernard MA, was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society on January 19, 1737 - He is described as Doctor of Philosophy in the University of Leyden; one of the authors of the General Dictionary Historical and Critical , dedicated to the Society, and a gentleman well skilled in mathematical and natural knowledge.'
