TitleCopy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison to The Controller, Messrs W H Smith & Sons' Bookbinding Workshops
Date5 March 1909
Description'Dear Sir,
I am obliged by your letter of the 3rd instant. With reference to the Stamp, the date 1645 is not one we generally use as the date of the foundation. We do not go behind 1663 the date if the first Charter. But is not the addition of a fixed date like that on the backs of books rather misleading?
Still, if it is much smaller than the date of the volume on the label, it may serve to balance the design so that I leave the matter open on the those conditions.'
