Title | Copy letter from Herbert Rix, to Professor Michael Foster |
Date | 3 November 1890 |
Description | Rix thinks he is safe to start circulating the slips. He has provisionally omitted the words 'written report' in one statement Foster has just added as he cannot find any reason for thinking that the early referees gave their reports in writing. They seem to have been members of Council and when there was not unanimity of opinion, they took home the manuscript and gave their verdict at the next meeting, but there is no ground for saying that their verdict was in writing. In consequeunce of St Andrew's day falling on a Sunday a new invitation card is in hand. Chapman has found the old minute book of the Committee for revising the statutes in 1831, and a bundle of documents relating to the same but Rix does not think there is anything altering the work Foster has already done. Rix encloses rather an interesting item on holy days [not attached]. |
