Date21 July 1909
I am directed by the President of the Royal Society, Sir Archibald Geikie, to acknowledge your letter of the 16th instant relating to the Berlin German-British Association, and to say that, while he does not feel himself at liberty to join the Committee of the Association in his official capacity, it would be open to the Fellows of the Royal Society to do so as private individuals. To this end the Articles of the Association will be displayed on the notice board in the Society's rooms.'
