Description'Dear Sir,
In reply to your letter of the 4th instant: to the applications from candidates for the Sorby Research Fellowship will be received by the Secretaries of the Royal Society, at Burlington House, up to September 30th. Each application should contain a brief statement of the scientific career of the candidate, including his previous work, and a statement, as precise as possible, of the nature of the work to which he proposes to devote himself if elected. Each candidate is requested to send on reference, but testimonials are not desired.'
