I have to acknowledge the receipt of a cheque for £19.1s.0d, for the rent of the Fee Farm, Lewes. No deduction has however been made for income tax, and in these circumstances I shall be obliged if you will let me know whether you would prefer to have a refund of the tax, or whether we shall return the cheque to you for amendment.'
