TitleCopy letter from John Rose Bradford, to The Under Secretary of State, Colonial Office
Date16 February 1911
DescriptionThe Tropical diseases Committee of the Royal Society recently discussed the question of continuing the investigations at Mpumu Laboratory initiated by Sir David Bruce and until lately carried out by Captains Hamerton and Bateman, and a proposal was submitted to them for the despatch to Uganda of a lady observer, Miss Muriel Robertson, who has already had considerable experience in the study of trypanosomes and is at present engaged in kindred researches at the Lister Institute of Preventive Medicine.

The Committee consider Miss Robertson is well qualified to carry on researches on the lines of those already pursued in Uganda, and that her investigations may lead to important results in the study of the life history of the parasites concerned in the several trypanosome diseases. Bradford would like the Secretary of State to authorise the despatch of Miss Robertson on the ordinary terms of the Colonial Medical Service.
