Title | Copy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison to Dr Leonard [Erskine] Hill FRS |
Date | 3 October 1911 |
Description | 'I am much obliged by your letter of the 28th September and hope to receive your paper shortly. I was directed to return the paper, not merely because it would be difficult for the printers to set up from, but because it failed to comply with the very specific condition which is advertised in every number of the Proceedings. This condition was imposed by the Council, not in the interests of the printer, but in the interests of the several persons who has to read papers communicated to the Society before they reach the stage of publication. Before that rule was imposed it not infrequently occurred that a referee decline to report upon a paper on account of the difficulty in reading it.' |
