| Description | 'With further reference to your letter of the 6th November, which I acknowledged at the time, I regret to say that a lengthy search has given us no trace of the transaction you describe or of the copper plates which you say were bequeathed to the Royal Society by Dr Highmore in 1684. He appears not to have been a Fellow of the Society, and we have been able to find no record of the plates having been in the possession of the Society.
If any further information on the subject should come to light I shall have pleasure in conveying it to you.' |
