Title | Copy letter from Archibald Geikie to Principal Sir Henry Miers FRS |
Date | 4 May 1912 |
Description | 'You are of course aware that Sir Henry Roscoe is resigning his appointment as representation of the Royal Society on the Governing Body of Eton College and I now write to ask if you would be willing to succeed him, for in that case I would submit your name to the Council on the 16th inst. I know of no one who has so fully a [?] the various qualifications that are desirable in the occupant of the post. I take that your dates as Principal will not seem to you to present any obstacle to your acceptance of fresh dates which are not very onerous but are of the lightest important to the cause of public school education and to the interest of a school with which you have been so intimately related.' |
