Notes that the Council hesitated, as it is not to the advantage of the Society to add to the already long list of medals, and referred the letter to a Committee. Explains that the Committee's report suggested an annual Sir John Murray lecture on Oceanography on the lines of the Croonian and Bakerian lectures. |
