Title | Copy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, Assistant Secretary of the Royal Society; to Sir [Jeans Hopwood] Jeans, Chairman of the Mathematics Committee and FRS |
Date | 19 November 1918 |
Description | Draws Sir [James Hopwood] Jeans' attention to two papers by Prince Galitzin published in the Transactions of the Academy of Petrograd shortly before his death. Notes that currently these are only available in Russian, and that Professor [Horace] Lamb has suggested a translation should appear in an English Scientific Publication. Also notes that Dr. [George Walker] Walker believes these to be Galitzin's two most important works and that, if possible, they be published in the Proceedings. Acknowledges the Standing Order stating that no paper already printed can be communicated to the Society. However, suggests that this could be countered by the special circumstances at play, including the fact that the papers currently exist only in Russian. Asks Sir Jeans for his opinion on the matter. |
