Title | Copy letter from James Hopwood Jeans, Secretary of the Royal Society; to Dr. [Cargill Gilston] Knott, FRS |
Date | 5 November 1920 |
Description | Informs Dr. [Cargill Gilston] Knott that the Society does not intend to put forward a claim for Government help thanks to the generous bequest of the late Dr. [Rudolph] Messel which has hugely benefited their finances. Notes that Council are entirely favourable of the Conjoint Board appealing for Government help provided a strong case is made. Further comments that he thinks the case of the Royal Society of Edinburgh is a strong one and that there would be considerable advantages if Scotland was represented in any claim put forward to Government. |
