Title | Copy letter from James Hopwood Jeans, Secretary of the Royal Society; to the Chairman of the Medical Research Council; 15 Buckingham Street, Strand, W.C.2. |
Date | 31 May 1921 |
Description | Writes to the Chairman on the subject of the International Catalogue of Scientific Literature. Notes that the Society took responsibility of the running of the Catalogue during the war and, when their funds were exhausted, a Conference met in 1920 to consider what steps should be taken to sustain it. It was decided that the Society would take responsibility for the Catalogue's administration and various other countries would provide funds to secure a working capital of £34,000 and a net income of £17,000. Explains that these targets have far from been reached and therefore the Society feel unable to take any further repsonsibility for the Catalogue. |
