Title | Copy letter from Herbert Rix, to Professor Michael Foster, Secretary, Royal Society |
Date | 21 July 1893 |
Description | Rix notes the enclosure of the Cambridge Engraving Company's estimate for [Rubert William] Boyce and [Nusserwangi Fakirgi] Surveyor at 62 pounds and 10 shillings, and asks if he should accept it. He reports that Risien Russell's figure can be done on wood for a quarter of the price of collotype, so he has put them in hand.
He also notes that he has complained to the Cambridge Engraving Company that [Percy] Groom's plates were ordered on 24 January, almost exactly six months ago, and has heard that they will be finished at the end of August. Although it is a large order, 15 plates, Rix still believes this to be an excessively long time, and suggests that if they cannot work quicker that they divide such large lots with other engravers.
Rix encloses two reports on [Frederick William] Pavy's paper, and asks for instructions. |
