Title | Copy letter from Herbert Rix, to Sir John Evans, [Treasurer, Royal Society] |
Date | 25 November 1893 |
Description | Rix states that he has done what Evans requested as well as he could in the available time. He is not comfortable with the difference of 237 pounds, two shillings and 10 pence, and speculates that they were charging the papers based on too low an estimate for printing; it will not be possible to analyse the figures more closely before the Royal Society's Anniversary.
The amounts Rix has given for estimates should at least give Evans an idea of the correct proportion for dividing the actual expenditure of printing in A and B. Rix notes that the numbers for paper and illustrations are much more exact and reliable. |
