|Title||Copy letter from Herbert Rix, to William Henry Preece, Fellow of the Royal Society|
|Date||4 April 1894|
The Soirée Sub-Committee instructs me to ask whether you know anything of Mr Wimshurst's "New Form of Swivel designed for the purpose of electrically connecting the Light-ship to the Shore Station", which he offers for exhibition at our forthcoming Soirée. The exhibit would occupy only three feet by two, and if it would be at all suitable, it is advisable to accept it, as we had some little friction with Mr Wimshurst last year.
I am, yours truly,
Asst. Sec. R.S. [Assistant Secretary, Royal Society]'.
