Title | Copy letter from Herbert Rix, to the Swan Electric Engraving Company, 116 Charing Cross Road, W.C. |
Date | 16 April 1894 |
Description | Rix sends for press two plates of spectra for Professor [Walter Noel] Hartley's paper. 1025 copies are to be printed of each plate.
On plate 6 he has marked the lines to show where the plates are trimmed when putting them into cloth for issue, but he notes that when they are bound for libraries, they are usually cut down by another quarter of an inch at each end, which currently risks the headline being cut. He therefore advises that the headline be placed on the plate itself, as close to the top edge as possible. If this is not possible, he recommends that they keep the headline as low as possible on the margin, close to the edge of the plate.
Once the plates are ready, Rix asks that they be delivered to Messrs Harrison & Sons, 45 St Martin's Lane, and that they advise him when they have done so. He encloses a specimen for the style of the headline. |
