The President and Council of the Royal Society have been informed by Professor Ayrton, who represented them upon the Council of Almoners of Christ's Hospital, that he has tendered his resignation to the Treasurer. As soon as I hear from you that his resignation has been accepted, I shall be prepared to tender the name of the successor agreed upon by the President and Council as their representative.
