TitleCopy letter from Herbert Rix, to Henry Michael Jenkins, Royal Agricultural Society
Date21 May 1886
DescriptionAs Jenkins is aware, Rix has only been in office as Assistant Secretary for one year and cannot therefore answer Jenkins' query from knowledge of any correspondence or negotiation that may have taken place on the subject. His ledger appears to prove that the Royal Society pay income tax under schedule A: lands and tenements, but not under D & I: income proper. He is told that a protest was made by some Societies against paying such heavy taxes for the house-room provided for them by Government, but that nothing came of it.
