TitleCopy letter from John Evans, to Sir William George Armstrong
Date20 November 1886
DescriptionEvans as Treasurer of the Royal Society thanks Armstrong for his letter and most generous offer. Of subscriptions promised about £3300 have now been paid and a considerable portion already invested. In accordance with Armstrorng's suggestion some of the subscriptions are made payable in two installments but Evans will collect all he can by 1 February [1887] and then inform Armstrong of the result of their appeals. Is sending Armstrong's letter to the President [George Gabriel Stokes] who will doubtless announce the liberal promise in his Anniversary Address.
